Things worked out pretty well this morning for the 2019 Crimson Tide, as a few guys who were on the fence about heading to the NFL decided to stay put. As expected, Jonah Williams, Quinnen Williams, and Josh Jacobs all decided to declare for the draft. The Williamses are both projected in the top ten overall, and Jacobs has nothing else to prove on the college level. He will be among the very first backs taken. Smith likely had a bit tougher decision, but one has to assume that he got a solid draft grade.
While the remaining players have until Monday to make their final decisions, this leaves Mack Wilson, Deionte Thompson, Anfernee Jennings, and Shyheim Carter joining Raekwon Davis, Terrell Lewis and Trevon Diggs apparently returning to what should be a great veteran defense next season. In fact, Williams and Isaiah Buggs are the only starters who will have to be replaced on that side of the football. That’s no easy task, but there are some solid options in house along with a stellar DL class coming in.
Congratulations to all of these young men on their decisions, and best of luck to those who decided to make the jump.
Roll Tide.
