Yesterday was an awful day for Tua Tagovailoa and all who love him, but the Tide did manage to get an easy win over Mississippi State to stay in the playoff hunt.
While we don’t yet know what the College Football Playoff committee will do on Tuesday, Alabama sits #5 in both the AP poll and the Amway coaches’ poll. The Tide were #4 in both last week, ahead of Georgia who jumped them after winning at Auburn. Since Georgia will play #1 LSU in the SEC Championship Game, there is a path for the Tide, but Oregon and Utah are both lurking close behind and one will defeat the other in the Pac 12 championship game. Alabama remains at #2 in SP+ and #3 in FPI, ahead of LSU in both.
To get into the playoff, Alabama needs LSU to look dominant as they win out, and they have to take care of business themselves. A close win in Jordan Hare in two weeks probably doesn’t get it done, they will need to dominate. Mac Jones, Najee Harris, and the Alabama defense will have to have their best showing of the season.
Let’s get it done, men. Pull together and do it for Tua.
Roll Tide.
