If you are planning to go to the game this weekend, you were probably already prepared for a bit of a zoo as road construction conspires with more people and cars than campus can reasonably handle.
Well, cue up the clowns and the trapeze, because the zoo has now become a circus.
The high-profile game was already attracting a lot of attention, including ESPN’s pregame show “College Gameday.” However, the stage had to be moved due to security concerns, from the Walk of Champions just outside the stadium to the Quad.
The President attended the National Championship Game in Atlanta at the end of the 2017 season. He left at halftime, with the Crimson Tide losing, before Alabama came back to defeat Georgia in overtime, 26-23.
He was on the field for the National Anthem and sat in a private box behind the Alabama sideline.
The president departed the stadium during halftime when Georgia led Alabama 13-0.
It’s never easy to accommodate a sitting president at an event that expects hundreds of thousands of people to attend in or around the venue, and the current polarized environment around this one only makes it worse. If you are going, plan accordingly.
Oh, and please don’t use the comment section to share your views on his policies, impeachment, etc. There are sites intended for that, this is not one of them. Thank you.
Roll Tide.
