Alabama added 22 new players in the Early Signing Period, good for the #2 class. While the players came from 8 different states, it was an Alabama-heavy group.
Over the previous two years, Alabama had signed 8 players combined (2 in 2018, 6 in 2019). The Crimson Tide have signed 8 in-state players already this cycle. Jayson Jones, a 4 star OL/DL out of Calera High School, is currently committed to the Tide; but he may end up committing elsewhere come February.
Georgia and Florida were tied for the second-most with 3 each. The staff plucked 2 recruits each from California, Texas, and Louisiana. Maryland and Ohio each sent a player as well.
For the JUCO signee, 4 star DB Ronald Williams, I listed the state where he played high school (Louisiana), not where his college is. Bringing in a JUCO signee was a return to form for Nick Saban after not signing one for the first time in his Alabama tenure last year.
The Class of 2019 also did not have any California players, the first time since 2012 that happened. That has obviously changed this year with the much-hyped Bryce Young signing, plus wide receiver Traeshon Holden.
Alabama will likely add somewhere between 5-7 more players, so there will be additions to this map in a couple months. Alabama has 3 other commits besides Jayson Jones: Javon Baker (Georgia), Jamil Burroughs (Georgia), and Dameion George (Texas).
