Ninth ranked Alabama got off to a booming start with runs raining down on Troy, Alabama. The Crimson Tide scored 53 runs in the five game Trojan Classic and batted a robust .378 as a team. Three games ended early under mercy run rules (one team is ahead by at least eight runs after five innings). One game was a challenge but the Tide showed composure coming back from a deep hole late in the game.

HITTING

The big boppers of the weekend were to nobody’s surprise Bailey Hemphill and Kaylee Tow. Tow had 9 hits in 13 at bats (.692) and was named the SEC Player of the Week. Hemphill was right behind her at 8 for 14 (.571). Both had six walks, three doubles, and a home run. Hemphill has 11 RBI in just five games.

Catcher Reagan Dykes is hitting .455 and stole two bases. Claire Jenkins is at .429 with a pair of dingers.

PITCHING

Transfer pitcher Sarah Cornell made an impressive debut with a 2-hit shutout against Maryland. Superfreshman Montana Fouts pitched 13.0 innings yielding one run in two complete game wins over Troy.
