UPDATES: 2019 Alabama A-Day: What to Watch - Recruiting Visitors

Mostly unofficial visitors but one high-profile official visitor.

NCAA Football: Auburn at Alabama

We have already given you a few tips on what to watch for on A-Day for the offense and defense. You should also be looking for a few other VIPs, and not just Laura Rutledge. Several recruits are scheduled to be at Bryant-Denny on Saturday. The most important of these are 5-star WR Julian Fleming and 5-star WkDE/OLB Reggie Grimes Jr.

Fleming is the top receiver for 2020 and No. 5 overall player. He hails from the tiny burgh of Catawissa, PA. He was also in T-town for A-Day a year ago but this visit will be an official one. Being from a small town with a population of around 1500, I get the feeling he sadly will go to Penn State. It’s interesting to note that his QB last season, Stone Hollenbach, is (preferred) walking on at Alabama this fall.

Grimes is a name many Crimson Tide fans should be familiar with. His father of the same name was a standout defensive lineman for Alabama in the late 1990s. His mother ran track for the Crimson Tide. He is from Mount Juliet outside of Nashville where dad grew up as well.

OTHER 2020

Other rising seniors scheduled to be in attendance:

Jacobian Guillory, 4-star DT, Alexandria, LA - The signature for the No. 145 player looks like another classic showdown between Alabama and LSU.

Issiah Walker, 4-star OT from Miami, FL powerhouse Norland. He is currently a South Carolina commit who does not have an offer from Alabama as of yet. Had to cancel, family emergency.

Eric Taylor, 4-star DT, Hewitt-Trussville, AL - The HTHS train just keeps on running.

Tirek Murphy, 4-star RB, Middle Village, NY - Attends the same high school as 3-star DT Jared Harrison-Hunte that Bama gave a good long look at for the 2019 class. (JH-H signed with Miami-FL).

Kyle Edwards, 3-star RB, Destrehan, LA - Bama offered him during the January (2019) Junior Day. He shared carries with 5-star LSU signee John Emery in 2018. This is Edward’s third trip to T-town in 2019.

  • Jamil Burroughs, 4-star DT from Powder Springs, GA has been added to the list. He is an UGA commit, so it is hard to know if he can be flipped or if he is just coming along for the fun with his teammates (see “Powder Springs” croots below).
  • Xavier Hill, three-star OT from Olive Branch, Mississippi will also be there. His lower rating could be due to the fact that he has only played football for one season and has not been to many camps where he can be seen. He was offered at Bama’s February Junior Day.
  • 5-star running back Kendall Milton (Clovis, CA) cannot make it but is visiting Alabama next Wednesday.
  • Alabama signees Trey Sanders, Byron Young, Marcus Banks, Brandon Turnage, King Mwikuta and Christian Harris are all returning this weekend. They will be enrolling in the summer.
  • Las Vegas 5-star TE/LB Darnell Washington will be spending his Spring Break visiting Alabama, Florida and Miami. It’s interesting to note that he has a quote by Mack Wilson as his Twitter header.

A few Tide commits (and non-commits) have conflicting commitments such as Prom and talking the ACTs, etc. Here are the committed Class of 2020 who have said they will attend A-Day.

Chris Braswell, 5-star WkDE/LB, Baltimore, MD (St. Frances Academy) - #SFAtoBAMA pipeline.

Caden Clark, 4-star TE, Akron, OH - picked up a 4th star since commitment last July.

De’Rickey Wright, 4-star ATH, Attalla, AL

Javon Baker, 4-star WR, Powder Springs, GA

Traeshon Holden, 4-star WR, Baltimore, MD (St. Frances Academy) - #SFAtoBAMA pipeline.

Jayson Jones, 4-star DT, Calera, AL

Javier Morton, 4-star CB, Stone Mountain, GA

Jah-Marien Latham, 4-star DT, Reform, AL

Seth McLaughlin, 3-star OT, Buford, GA - most recent commit won’t be a 3-star for long.

There will likely be more rising juniors on campus this weekend. Below are three confirmed (and they all have great Key & Peele names). They all have Alabama offers.

Ga’Quincy McKinstry, 4-star WR/CB, Pinson, AL - gotta sign him for the name alone. Ratings are still trickling in for 2021 recruits but he could become a 5-star and No. 1 in-state player.

Cane Berrong, 4-star TE, Hartwell, GA - high Bama target, great name.

Dacari Collins, 4-star WR, Powder Springs, GA

UPDATE 2021:

Kaine Williams, 4-star S, Marrero, LA - no offer yet but should get one soon.

Marquis Robinson, 4-star DT, Milton, FL - has an offer.

Edwin White, 3-star S, Mobile (UMS-Wright) - no offer yet.

Cam Jeffery, 3-star RB, Tuscaloosa (American Christian Academy) - no offer.

Tim Keenan, 4-star DT, Birmingham, AL (Ramsay) - has offer.

No rankings for this class have been released.

Tanner Bailey, QB, Gordo, AL - Pro-style with offers from LSU and Tennessee.

UPDATE 2022:

Jeremiah Alexander, WkDE/OLB, Alabaster (Thompson) - Remember this name. He has great upside.

Justice Finkley, WkDE, Hewitt-Trussville, AL - No offer yet, but probably sometime in the near future.

Lucas Taylor, OT, Ocean Springs, MS - No offer yet, but probably sometime in the near future.

Kaden Young, OC, Madison, AL - no offer.

A-Day kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
