With the 50th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft , the Minnesota Vikings select Irv Smith Jr.
Measurables: 6’2”, 242
Speed/Strength: 4.63, 19
Hops (vert/broad): 32.5”, 110”
Mobility (3-cone, shuttle): 7.32
When Irv Smith Jr. was still a high school recruit, the most people knew of him was his name. Jr’s dad, Irv Smith Sr., was a pretty good tight end himself for seven NFL seasons, mostly with the Saints. The elder Smith went to Notre Dame and was the 20th overall pick of the 1993 NFL Draft by New Orleans. Now Irv Smith Jr. looks to make a name for himself.
After recording no receptions as a true freshman in 2016, Smith Jr, had 14 receptions for 128 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games as a sophomore in 2017. Then this past season, Smith blew up with 44 catches for 710 yards (16.1 ypr) and 7 touchdowns.
The ESPN commentators are gushing about the pick.
ROLL IRV!
That feeling when you find out you're a Viking...
