Softball Super Regional Open Thread: Alabama vs Texas

The Crimson Tide are back at the Rhoads House to face the Longhorns.

Rhoads Stadium will be rockin’. Please come a-knockin’!

8-seed Alabama (55-7) 9-seed Texas (45-15)

Thursday night begins the softball Super Regionals and the stakes are higher. The Crimson Tide and Longhorns will play a best two-of-three series with the winner moving on to the Women’s College World Series.

In Game 1, Alabama is expected to start freshman Montana Fouts (17-4, 1.20 ERA), while Texas will likely lean on their junior workhorse Miranda Elish (18-9, 1.68 ERA).

While Bama coach Patrick Murphy often tweaks his batting order, the starting 8 in the field are always the same. The most likely lineup is listed below.

  • 1B Bailey Hemphill
  • 2B Skylar Wallace
  • C Reagan Dykes
  • 3B Maddie Morgan
  • SS Claire Jenkins

All three games are scheduled for ESPN with the first two on in Prime Time. Beth Mowins will call the games with Jessica Mendoza and Michele Smith as analysts.

May 23 (Thu) vs Texas 8pm CT ESPN
May 24 (Fri) vs Texas 6 or 8pm CT ESPN
May 25 (Sat) vs Texas (if necessary) 1pm CT ESPN

All games can be heard on 93.3 FM as well.
