New Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats has stayed busy this off-season molding his new team. Crimson Tide fans can expect to see several new faces on the team in the future. One in particular could be RJ Cole who was on campus this past weekend for an official visit.
The Howard University point guard and reigning MEAC Player of The Year entered the transfer portal last month with two years of eligibility remaining and barring a waiver, would have to sit out a year.
By all accounts his visit went really well. The Tide’s main competition appears to be UConn and the siren call of the NBA. Cole previously declared for the NBA Draft (without hiring an agent) and could take that route. However, he has until May 29 to withdraw his name if he wishes to stay in school.
In two seasons with the Bison, Cole averaged 22.5 points and 6.2 assists per game in 67 games.
JUWAN GARY
There were a few rumblings about Alabama 4-star signee Juwan Gary qualifying but it appears those notions can be put to bed.
