Alabama Football Scholarship/Eligibility Tracker

The Crimson Tide have a little work to do to hit the 85 man limit.

Josh brought up the scholarship numbers in the Jumbo Package on Thursday, and I had just happened to already be working on a list. I’ve gone over this a couple times now, and this is where I’m at (#norefunds if I missed a player or two).

By my count, Alabama currently has 90 scholarship players. The limit is 85, but they have until the fall to make the numbers work.

My count includes the 22 early signees of the Class of 2020. It also takes into account the players who have declared for the draft and Jerome Ford, who was recently reported to have entered the transfer portal. Scooby Carter, who had a recent tweet that makes it sound like he’s sticking with Alabama, is listed. Nigel Knott, who was taken off the roster for medical reasons in September, announced he was medically cleared; but he’s still not on the roster.

Alabama currently has another four players committed for the Class of 2020, though they’re not all guaranteed to end up at Alabama. If Najee Harris declares and Alabama adds another three recruits, they would be sitting at 92 scholarships, meaning seven players would need to either transfer or otherwise leave the program.

As for position breakdowns, there will almost definitely be some changes. I split up the offensive line into tackles and interior offensive linemen so it wasn’t just a big grouping of 16 players. Evan Neal, for instance, seems likely to move back to tackle after playing guard in 2019; but I listed him at guard since he hasn’t moved yet. Same caveat for the defensive backs, which I split into safeties and cornerbacks.
