This time a year ago, Alabama had a good deal of doubters. At the time, the Southeastern Conference’s preseason poll, as voted on by SEC coaches, picked the Crimson Tide to finish a distant eighth in the league. The impertinence of that opinion of Team23 was motivation that propelled the Tide to a 33-game win streak to start the season, an SEC Championship, and a trip to the World Series semifinals.
Team24 will have to look for motivation elsewhere this season for the coaches were not going to make that mistake twice in a row. This time, the Tide has been voted as the preseason SEC favorite with 11 of the 13 first place votes. Tennessee received the other two.
