The Crimson Tide head to their House of Horrors in Nashville, hoping to escape with a victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores. With an impressive week now behind them, the Tide have put themselves squarely in play for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament (and only two games back in the loss column of 1st place in the SEC, with road trips to Kentucky and Florida already in the rear-view mirror, I might add). Now, it’s business week for ‘Bama, as they simply need to show up and take care of business against the likes of Vandy and Kansas State.
Nate Oats’ squad is a heavy 9-point favorite tonight, but we’ve seen this show before. Alabama has made a habit of ripping up its NCAA Tournament resumes over the years playing down to opponents the Tide should beat handily. Something does feel different about the team this year, though. The mental toughness and drive that they bring to the court each night is a testament to how Oats is able to get his guys ready to play.
We’ll find out here shortly. If Alabama can take care of business this week, they will be sitting in a pretty solid spot as the calendar flips to February next week, win or lose in Baton Rouge next Wednesday night.
The game will tip at 8:00 PM CST and will be televised on the SEC Network.
