Kira Lewis Jr. has been shooting up draft boards since he left Alabama, and on Wednesday was selected 13th overall by the New Orleans Pelicans.

Players are often drafted for other teams to fill trades that were previously agreed upon, but it appears that the Pelicans plan to keep Lewis, where he will form an outstanding young nucleus with Lonzo Ball and Zion Williamson. Like most teams, the Pelicans reportedly liked his versatility. Lewis only has average size for a NBA guard at 6’3” in height, but his 6’5” wingspan allows him to defend on the wing or the point. He will need to reduce turnovers and improve a bit on his long range shooting, but he plays fast and knows how to get to the rim. There is loads of potential here, and New Orleans should be a fun team to watch.
Roll Tide.
