Happy Monday, everyone. Alabama basketball plays Stanford tonight in the Camping World Maui Invitational that is now being played in an Asheville, NC bubble. Tip-off is at 8:30 CT and we will have game coverage later on today.
Michael Casagrande has a wrap-up of that sweet Iron Bowl whipping.
— It was clear the Alabama defense was jacked up from the very beginning, flying around and gang tackling the ground game. The first of three sacks also came in the first possession after Alabama entered the game 11th of 14 SEC teams with 11 sacks. You could hear all 19,424 in crimson when Chris Allen and Will Anderson combined for that first sack of Bo Nix. The eight tackles for loss tied Alabama’s season high as well.
The defense has made great strides and now looks to be championship caliber when paired with this otherworldly offense. May it continue.
Mike also has Saban’s weekly breakdown of a play from the game.
Another bit of interesting insight from Saban drawing up what happened on an Alabama touchdown pass. pic.twitter.com/Yo6TZtcIWJ— Michael Casagrande (@ByCasagrande) November 29, 2020
Metchie really sold that stalk block, didn’t he?
Moving on, the spread for the LSU game is absurd.
Alabama opened as a 25-point favorite to beat LSU on Saturday night with the two programs going in different directions. The spread was bet up to 28 points within an hour of its release at Circa Sports in Las Vegas.
This is going to be a bloodbath. Terrace Marshall, Jr. decided he’d rather not.
Marshall’s departure, on the surface, is a surprising development, news that came less than two weeks after he gave a speech in a players-only meeting to bring the team together before its 27-24 win at Arkansas.
However, it’s a decision that’s been brewing for about a week, multiple sources told The Advocate, and it appeared Texas A&M would be Marshall’s final game. Even Friday’s news that the Alabama game had been rescheduled didn’t deter his ultimate decision.
Sorry to any who may disagree, but this is absolutely quitting on his team. There is no way to view the timing of this decision as anything more than a realization that playing Alabama and Florida is likely to hurt his draft stock. Marshall is being roasted for it, and it’s well earned.
Last, Ohio State may be losing another game to the ‘Rona.
From a Source: “Strong speculation Northwestern versus Minnesota, and Ohio State versus Michigan State games get cancelled this weekend. That would eliminate Ohio State from the conference championship, so they will be desperate, but a high number of players will be missing." pic.twitter.com/fwBD9KXbKI— Dan Patrick Show (@dpshow) November 30, 2020
At that point Ohio State would have played all of five games.
A poll for you to consider and discuss:
Would the CFP committee extend a playoff bid to a 5-0 Ohio State team?
This poll is closed
Doing so would require some serious justification, wouldn’t it?
That’s about it for today. Have a great week.
