Day One of the 2020 Maui Invitational comes to a close as the Alabama Crimson Tide get set to take on the Stanford Cardinal. This is likely to be the most competitive game of the day, as it features two rising programs that are both dreaming of creating some serious madness come March.
It’s also a major test for the Tide. Jerod Haase’s team returns four starters from a season ago, and replaced their one departure with five-star freshman sensation, Ziaire Williams. A win tonight would go a long way on the Tide’s NCAA Tournament resume, and it would also set the Tide up for a date with #14 North Carolina tomorrow, which would bolster the resume even more, win or lose.
There is a lot at stake here tonight, even this early on in the season. This is an incredible opportunity for Nate Oats’ team. Can the Tide recreate the heroics of the 2004 squad that knocked off #1 Stanford in a program-defining second round tournament win?
