Alabama fans received a nice Christmas present Friday in the commitment from offensive guard Jaeden Roberts. It was an early gift for the Crimson Tide staff as he had already signed with Bama last week during the Early Signing Period but wanted to wait until Christmas to announce. The 4-star recruit hails from Houston, TX and played for powerhouse North Shore - the same school that produced current Bama freshman OL Damieon George. He is the seventh player in this class from the Lone Star State, the most of any state.
The nation’s 248th ranked player was Auburn’s fourth-highest ranked player in the 2021 class before he decommitted on ESP Day. He is a massive 6’5” and 340 lbs.
From 247sports:
“Large O-lineman with good height and massive, college-ready size. Experience inside and at right tackle. Projects to a big guard role, though potential position versatility should not be ruled out. Run-game mauler who overwhelms overmatched defenders at the point of attack. Flashes some initial punch power. Adequate movement to second level when required. Will finish blocks to the ground when opportunity presents. Huge build limits foot quickness and fluidity. Needs to improve agility, particularly in pass-pro, where often relies on size and strength. Leverage inconsistency compromises punch power at times. High-floor Power 5-caliber offensive lineman with some long-term upside derived from size/strength combo and possible guard/right tackle ability.”
He does not appear to have highlights from 2019 or 2020 so his rating might actually be a little low (Bama bump inbound in 4...3...2...). In the meantime, please enjoy him blowing poor souls up as a tenth grader.
Credit Karl Scott and Kyle Flood for this get.
This commit gives Alabama five offensive linemen - two tackles, two guards and a center - and 27 total for the Class of 2021. But hold on. The Crimson Tide is NOT done yet. They are still in the hunt for DE J.T. Tuimoloau, WR Brian Thomas, and a safety with Terrion Arnold topping the list. Don’t worry about the numbers. Nick Saban will somehow make it work.
