Happy Monday, everyone. As you well know, the Kansas City Chiefs won last night’s Super Bowl, giving the team a neat 50 years between championships. Reggie Ragland was the only Alabama player on either team and came away with a ring, contributing two tackles to the winning effort. The halftime show was widely praised, though there were some who felt it to be a bit risque. Patrick Mahomes was awarded MVP, but he had a rough night overall. It was a fairly ugly game in general.
San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan watched his team allow 21 points in the fourth quarter to cough up a ten point lead. He was the offensive coordinator when the Atlanta Falcons blew a 28-3 Super Bowl lead to New England. Personally, I think it’s the ill-fitting flat bill cap.
You’re a grown up, Kyle. Curve that thing.
The Onion had some fun at the Bears’ expense.
“I would’ve never had this opportunity to compete for a championship if I had ended up on the Bears,” said Mahomes during a post-game interview, expressing his gratitude to the Chicago franchise for sparing him from years of mediocrity and career frustration. “There were some tense moments on draft day when it looked like I might be headed to Chicago, but luckily God had other plans for me. Instead of lifting this trophy, I could be languishing at the bottom of the NFC North and running for my life after every snap behind a terrible offensive line. I’m so glad I get to throw to Tyreek (Hill) and Sammy (Watkins) my whole career instead of whoever the hell is on the Bears.” Mahomes added that he only hopes all the current Bears players get as lucky as he did.

Also, I had never heard of the FedEx Ground Player of the Year award, but Derrick Henry won it.
Hey, guess what? Alabama got hosed by the conference schedule makers again, unlike a certain ACC squad.
Three conference teams – Tennessee, Mississippi State, and LSU – have open dates before playing Alabama, and Bama’s open date is the same (Oct. 31, Hallowe’en and Nick Saban’s birthday) as LSU’s before that game in Baton Rouge on Nov. 7.
Five SEC teams have no games in which the SEC opponent has a bye the previous week. They are Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Missouri, and Vanderbilt.
Look at that, the Auburn with a lake has something in common with the one without. No other SEC team has three on the schedule blessed with a bye before playing them.
The womens’ basketball team notched a win in what has been an improved season.
After trailing by seven in the fourth quarter, the Alabama women’s basketball team drained three-consecutive threes to edge Ole Miss, 57-56, on Sunday in Oxford, Miss.
The victory is the third Southeastern Conference win for the Crimson Tide (13-9, 3-6 SEC), while the Rebels (7-15, 0-9 SEC) are still seeking their first victory of 2020.
Junior Ariyah Copeland led with 11 points, while sophomore De’Sha Benjamin and senior Ashley Knight each added 10 points. Knight also grabbed eight boards while blocking three shots.
It has still been an up and down season for the ladies, but the SEC is always tough.
Last, this is so cute.
Trinity Bell is a three-star athlete who plays for Albertville High School in Albertville, Alabama. This weekend marked the third time he’s visited Tennessee, and the Vols were the first program to extend a scholarship offer to him in football.
Bell, who is rated as the No. 385 overall prospect and No. 33 athlete in the 2021 class per 247Sports, holds an offer from the in-state Auburn Tigers and has generated interest from Alabama as well. According to the dynamic athlete, both schools didn’t want him to come back to Knoxville this weekend.
“They (Alabama and Auburn) didn’t really want me to come to Tennessee,” Bell told Austin Price of VolQuest after his visit this weekend.
Kid is an in-state three star who doesn’t even hold an Alabama offer. I’m sure Nick Saban is losing sleep over it.
That’s about it for today. Have a great week.
Roll Tide.
