Creating the RBR All-Saban Team: A primer

Here’s your chance to promote your favorite stars of the dynasty era.

NCAA Football: Citrus Bowl-Michigan vs Alabama Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

As we sit quarantined in our homes, this seems like a good time to reflect on the players who have driven the greatest run of success in college football history. Naturally, we considered doing an all-decade team, but there were also some fantastic players on the 2008 and 2009 squads that we thought you’d like to discuss.

After much debate, a lot of cussing, and maybe a knockdown, drag out brawl or two, we have settled on creating our own community “All-Saban team” of the best players thus far in the Saban era.

BamaBrave4 came up with the format, so direct all praise and complaints to him.

Here it is:

We are going to present you with a post by position group including a list of candidates from which to vote, and each candidate is going to have one of our esteemed writers stumping for him in the body of the post. Whether there may be some trash talk among the writers on who manages to sway the most votes is neither here nor there. This is all about picking the best team, dammit.

Also, you will also have the opportunity to sway votes in the comments. If you are still undecided after reading our arguments, perhaps you will consult those for more opinions. The criteria for “best” is whatever you decide it to be.

We will have the first post out in the next day or so, but in the meantime feel free to use the comments to nominate any under the radar players who deserve consideration.

Sound good?

Roll Tide.
