Though most have been expecting the twins to be an Alabama lean, James and Tommy Brockermeyer haven’t given much clue as to their intentions, and are Texas legacies. They suddenly tweeted out yesterday that they planned to commit today, and, right on cue, are now joining Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class.
The Tide pulled the elite duo away from LSU, Texas, and Auburn despite the Tigers’ recent national championship momentum and the Longhorns being the legacy pick.
Tommy is a consensus 5-star prospect, the top offensive tackle in the nation, and a top 5 overall player. James is a 4-star, top-200 player, but is the #1 overall center— a position that never gets ranked highly.
Both players are still on the light side for an SEC offensive lineman, but absolutely have the frame to grow into 290-300 lbs. Their father was an All-American tackle that played 9 years in the pros, and their older brother, Luke, is already a linebacker at Texas.
Tommy’s commitment gives Alabama three 5-star prospects, and the Tide’s class is now ranked 6th overall in the nation despite having at least 2 less commits than any of the teams above them.
And to think, only a couple of months ago we were all fretting about Nick Saban only having a single commitment.
