ESPN put out an updated preseason All- American team sans the conferences that aren’t playing ball, and Alabama players occupy six of the 26 positions, while LSU and Clemson are the only other schools with multiple players at two apiece.
The Alabama selections:
DeVonta Smith, WR
Jaylen Waddle, AP
Alex Leatherwood, OT
Deonte Brown, OG
Dylan Moses, LB
Patrick Surtain II, CB
It’s still tough to get accustomed to Nick Saban teams having more talent on offense than defense, and recent recruiting classes may close that gap. It’s good to see Cornbread get some recognition nationally. Najee Harris likely has a little something to say about the RB job, though it’s tough to argue with Etienne and Hubbard. Christian Barmore, LaBryan Ray, and Evan Neal are other guys who may well find themselves on some postseason lists.
Thoughts?
Roll Tide.
