#6 Alabama vs #20 Arkansas Game Thread

#6 Alabama Crimson Tide (18-5, 13-1 SEC) vs #20 Arkansas Razorbacks (17-5, 9-4 SEC)

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas at Alabama Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

The Crimson Tide enter the House of Horrors that has been Bud Walton Arena for a showdown between two ranked foes, with championship aspirations on the line. A win tonight for Alabama would seal the deal for the Tide as the outright regular season champions of the SEC for the year of our Lord 2021. It would mark the first SEC Championship for Tide Hoops since the 2002 season, but it would also make it nine titles total, good for fourth in the conference all-time.

However, a loss keeps the second-place Hogs alive for at least a share of the crown, and as we all know around here, a tie is like kissing your sister, and nobody wants to do that. Additionally, the Tide is still very much alive for a number one seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, and a win on the road against these red-hot Hogs would go a long way in Alabama positioning itself in the on-deck circle for that top-spot.

Alabama will start its usual group of John Petty, Herb Jones, Jaden Shackelford, Josh Primo, and Jordan Bruner. Hopefully, Bruner will have knocked off some of the rust from his return this past Saturday, because the Tide needs him to be an asset tonight.

The line movement has been all over the place in this game, but seems to have settled with Arkansas being slightly favored by ~2 points. The game will tip at 8:00 PM CST and will be televised on ESPN2.

Let’s go be champions, boys.
