Another Saturday, another ranked match-up on ESPN. Alabama has really become a mainstay on the country’s leading sports broadcasting network. For good reason too; after an 18-point easy win over the LSU Tigers, the tenth-ranked Crimson Tide has put itself into position for a 1-seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, which would be the first time in school history if it could pull it off. A Q1 road win over the 18th-ranked Missouri Tigers, who are currently projected to be a 4-seed, would certainly help the Tide in that pursuit.
More importantly though, a win today in Columbia would make a regular season SEC title a near-certainty for Alabama. Mizzou is currently the only team in the SEC within three games of the Tide in the conference. A victory would mean Alabama would be up four games in the standings with only seven left to play, with the Tide’s easiest stretch of the season coming up in the next two weeks.
Can the Tide win what is essentially a regular season SEC championship game in early February? Nate Oats and the boys certainly think so. As does Vegas, which lists the Tide as a 3-point favorite in this one.
