The stage is set for Alabama’s 2021 postseason run, and it begins with a brunch battle with the Bulldogs. SEC Coach of the Year has accomplished a bevy of goals in only Year Two of his tenure, but none would be as thrilling as cutting down the nets in Nashville for the first SEC Tournament Championship since Wimp Sanderson was roaming the sidelines. As I mentioned yesterday, a double-dip of both the regular season and tournament titles in the same year is an incredibly rare achievement, one that only four schools - Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee - have ever accomplished. So, it would make an already amazing season even more historic.
But, first things first, the Tide has to beat Mississippi State for the third time this season. Beating anyone three times in the same year is difficult enough, let alone a team that gives Nate Oats’ schemes so many headaches. However, this team has shown incredible resiliency all season, and I have no reason to doubt the guys now.
The game tips off at 11:00 AM CST and will be televised on ESPN. The Tide is currently an 8-point favorite.
