With the 2021 national championship less than 12 hours old, Vegas of course turns its attention to more salient matters — who’s going to cut down the nets in a year.
Much like college football, these odds are set on the heels of postseason play, when enthusiasm may be high. And they are especially targeting Normies susceptible to the belief that one tourney run this week will project forward to next year. (And of course, none of these odds are set in contemplation of the NBA draft deadline or National Signing Day.)
To the surprise of no one, many of this year‘s final four teams are in the top tier of 2022’s contenders, with Gonzaga once again the heavy favorite to take home the national championship. Alabama is in the second tier of contenders, alongside Duke, Kansas and others. And if that is not a statement of how well this team has recruited and how well Nate Oates has had the Crimson Tide play at times, nothing is.
