2021 NFL Draft: Alabama Crimson Tide’s Deonte Brown is Selected in the 6th round by the Carolina Panthers

Cornbread is taking his services on to the NFL

NCAA Football: CFP National Championship-Ohio State vs Alabama Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Deonte Brown, known affectionately as “Cornbread” is a massive mountain of a human being at nearly 350 pounds. He’s been in an out of the starting lineup for Alabama for various reasons the last three season, but made a name for himself as a terrifyingly effective run blocker.

The Carolina Panthers selected Cornbread with the 9th pick of the 6th round where he’ll join fellow rookie 2nd round pick, Brady Christensen in trying to protect the newly acquired Sam Darnold.

Brown uses his hands well and had surprisingly nimble feet in pass protection at the college level. His best fit would be in a power/counter based offense, but as seen above he has shown remarkable athleticism for a man his size. As long as he stays focused on keeping his body in great condition, the sky is the limit for him.

Brown is the 9th Alabama player selected in the draft so far this year.

Roll Tide!
