Rhoads Stadium will serve as host for the Tuscaloosa Regional as the next step en route to the Women’s College World Series. The Crimson Tide (44-7) will face SWAC Champ Alabama State (19-27) on Friday at 5pm CT airing on the SEC Network. Troy (36-15) will face off with fledgling Clemson (42-6) at 3pm.
Earlier this season, Alabama completed a 5 inning run rule no-hitter against ASU by the score of 10-0. The Tide also defeated Troy 2-0 on a 3-hitter. Clemson only started playing softball in 2020 and improbably won the ACC regular season championship this season.
Oklahoma (45-2) is the top overall seed followed by UCLA (41-4). Twelve of the thirteen SEC teams made the 64 team field with eight of them serving as hosts.
- Oklahoma State
- Arizona State
Unseeded SEC: Texas A&M, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, MSU. Only South Carolina (26-26; 4-20) did not make the field.
Games will be carried on various ESPN outlets.
The 16 winners of each Regional move on to Super-Regionals which pits two teams in another double-elimination round. The winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional will meet up with the Lexington Regional winner who is hosted by No. 14 overall seed Kentucky. The eight victors of the Supers moves on to Oklahoma City.
