Happy Tuesday, everyone.
As we inch closer to Alabama football be forewarned, this JP is short but just oozing with Gump. First off, one Mac Jones so impressed Bill Belichick that Cam Newton was sent to find other opportunities.
The quarterback battle in New England has officially ended. According to Jim McBride of The Boston Globe, the Patriots have released veteran quarterback Cam Newton. This comes as all NFL teams are required to trim down their preseason rosters to the opening 53 men. With Newton gone, this now points to first-round rookie Mac Jones — who competed with Newton this summer — being named the starter to begin the 2021 regular season.
This is an amazing development. Not too bad for a three star who was previously committed to Kentucky, eh?
Check out this quote from Nick Saban about how long he plans to coach.
“I enjoy what I do. I like the challenge. I’m not a sit-around, do-nothing kind of guy. I like to be involved in things, I like challenges,” he said.
He added: “I don’t want to stay here beyond my years and ride the program down. So as long as I feel like I can make a contribution in a positive way, to continue to have a great program for the players and that that’s helping them be successful and we have an opportunity to be successful because of that, I don’t think of age as an issue.
“I mean, how old’s Nancy Pelosi?”
Um, she is 81, which Nick won’t be until Halloween 2032.
Told you this thing was Gumpy.
Michael Casagrande has a fantastic piece on Alabama’s Miami pipeline.
Sitting in the bleachers at Fort Lauderdale powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, Zagacki remembers overhearing a football parent beaming with pride telling people Saban was coming for a visit.
His clout precedes any living room chat much like Jimmy Johnson had with Miami in the late 1980s, Zagacki said.
“And it’s a badge of honor when Nick Saban’s recruiting your kid,” Zagacki said. “Every parent loves it, is the thing, you know, it’s if Nick Saban is coming to see your child play. He’s only won the parent. It’s validation for the parent. My kid is going to go to Alabama.”
Just inject that right into our veins, aight?
Last, this Bishop Sycamore thing is just terrible.
We talked to a former Bishop Sycamore player, Aaron Boyd. He exposed everything.

The whole thing is just disgusting, and IMG is complicit. How did they not know what they were dealing with after beating that team by 50 last season?
That’s about ir for now. Have a great day.
Roll Tide.
