Alabama football fans are known as a spoiled bunch. Conditioned to competing for a national title virtually every season, particularly in the last dozen years, anything short of that is considered something of a disappointment. Still, as much as Alabama has dominated on the national landscape, that pales in comparison to the way they have owned the SEC.
Alabama boasts 28 SEC titles, more than twice the 13 held by runners up Georgia and Tennessee. Think about that for a moment: one of those two conference bluebloods would have to win 15 consecutive conference championships just to tie Alabama.
Additionally, Alabama has won more than 72% of its SEC games all time, and have a winning record over every SEC opponent. Both Texas and Oklahoma own winning records over Alabama, which will provide some extra motivation for the Tide once they join the league. Still, they will be on notice. This is Alabama’s league, and the way that Saban continues to clean up on both the field and recruiting trail, that isn’t changing any time soon.
We are now 28 days to kickoff.
Roll Tide.
