In a lot of ways, that really sums up the public perception of this matchup. A good Miami team versus an elite Alabama team.
Oddsmakers don't see this game as much of a contest. Alabama is a 19 point favorite. they're given -909 odds, or an implied 90.9% chance to win the game. Meanwhile, Miami is given just +700 odds, or an implied 12.5% chance to pull off the massive upset.
Not exactly the odds you'd expect when 2 of the top-15 teams in the country go head to head. Though perhaps, that just another example of the dominance of Alabama.
Alabama and Miami have met 17 times in their history, though the last time they played was in 1993.
In fact, in their 17 matchups, Miami has been held to less than 14 points in 14 games. Alabama won them all. That includes the 1993 Sugar Bowl, which was the National Championship game. for all intents and purposes.
So, while that 19 point spread may look ridiculous, remember that Alabama has covered that in 9 of their 14 wins.
Alabama should win this game. They have the most talented team in the country and the best HC in the country. They're going to compete for a national title once again.
