Alabama jumped out to a quick lead with a huge pass to John Metchie on the opening drive, and the Tide never looked back. New QB Bryce Young eluded blitz after blitz and calmly delivered strikes to TE Cam Latu for a couple of touchdowns as the Tide moved the fairly consistently the whole half.
On defense, Alabama's pass rush totally dominated the Miami offensive line, and the Hurricanes struggled to get any positive traction the entire half. They did finally get a field goal as time expired after a horrendous pass interfence call put them in range.
Overall, it was a very encouraging first half for Tide fans as Alabama dismantled the the #14 team in the nation for an entire half, proving that defense can still be king in the modern college football landscape.
Here's to keeping the foot on the gas in the second half. Roll Tide!
