FINAL OV WEEKEND FOR EARLY SIGNERS

  • Arkansas 4-star running back commit Jadan Baugh (Decatur, GA). He plans to enroll early.
  • 4-star RB Kevin Riley from Tuscaloosa County HS who is a Miami commitment. An RBR insider believes he will commit to Bama next week.
  • Tide safety commit Red Morgan (Phenix City).
  • Bama TE commit Jay Lindsey (Butler, AL) already has the Bama bangs. He will not enroll early but should sign.

TRANSFER PORTAL OVs

  • EDGE/DL LT Overton, Texas A&M - Former 5-star recruit; sophomore DE wants to play more of an Edge position. Father is the current AD at Kennesaw State - who hired Antoine Pettway as basketball coach if that does anything for you. Two years of eligibility remaining.
  • EDGE Fadil Diggs, Texas A&M - served as team captain. 22 solos, 14 assists, 4 sacks. Also visiting Syracuse which is close to his Camden, NJ home and might be the favorite. Diggs was recruited to Texas A&M by defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, who is now the defensive coordinator at the ‘Cuse. He has two years left.
  • EDGE Trey Moore, UTSA - This guy is a beast! 30 solos, 15 assists, 14 sacks, 1 INT, 3 passes def, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble rec. Texas is the early favorite. Moore cancelled a trip to Ohio State and may or may not visit Tuscaloosa this week. Two years left.

TARGET ACQUIRED

  • DB Zavier “Zay” Mincey of Daytona Beach is a major target. He took an OV to Bama on October 20 for TSIO - his first OV since June. Nick Saban had an in-home visit with him on Tuesday. Zay is thought to be an early enrollee but won’t be a part of bowl prep since he plans to announce on Jan 6 at the Army All-American Game.

FLIPADELPHIA

  • LB commit Tristan Jernigan (Tupelo, MS) is a possible flip from Texas A&M. An OV to T-town last weekend made a big impression. He is at Ole Miss this weekend. Jernigan was born in Florence, AL but moved to Tupelo, MS at age 2.

COMMIT WATCH

  • EDGE Jayshawn Ross to Alabama is picking up steam. The Kansas City, MO native is returning to Tuscaloosa for an unofficial visit this weekend.
  • OT Favour Edwin is also trending towards the Tide. He plans to enroll early and do bowl prep.
  • DL Steve Mboumoua from Quebec City, Canada is a strong possibility. He took an official visit to T-town last weekend. He too will participate in bowl prep if he signs with the Tide.
  • Auburn WR commit Perry Thompson received an in-home visit from Nick Saban and Holmon Wiggins this week. At least he is listening...

GOING ELSEWHERE

  • RB Kewan Lacy of Lancaster, TX surprised everyone by committing to Mizzou.
  • Running back/tight end Daniel Hill of Meridian, MS appears to be leaning towards South Carolina.
  • Alabama is trying to flip Texas WR/DB commit Aeryn Hampton but he likely sticks with UT.
  • TAMU DL commit Dealyn Evans appears to be off of Bama’s board.

OTHER STUFF

  • Ryan Williams plans to sign on his birthday on Feb. 9, just a couple of days after the February signing period opens up on Feb. 7. He will be all of 17 years old.
  • Alabama commit Sterling Dixon is a guy who has not been getting a lot of attention. He played the edge but is recruited to play inside linebacker. Dixon had 172 tackles and 18 sacks as a junior. Unfortunately, he had a “minor” shoulder injury this year that slowed him some. He plans on having surgery on his labrum, which will keep him out for three months. He is hopeful that he can participate in spring practice.
  • I predict that Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will quickly become a fan favorite. He reportedly had 11 special teams touchdowns this year. He plays safety, has 5 interceptions, has rushing scores, creates turnovers, excels at punt coverage, returns kicks for touchdowns. He does it all. He is a smart player and definitely a blue-collar type. He is a throwback hard-working overachiever. [Okay, I think I have reached my limit of sports cliches but they are all true.]
