Bowl Games Open Thread: SEC Teams featured in Peach, Music City, Orange

Happy Saturday, everyone. Sadly, bowl game season is passing us by quickly.

Yesterday, Clemson and Kentucky started the action with a contest of errors, the Tigers pulling out the victory late. Seeing Dabo Swinney so jubilant after beating 5-loss Kentucky was arguably even funnier than a Kentucky win would have been, and had Clemson lost we wouldn’t have this soundbite that will undoubtedly get some use on the internet.

He’s actually saying “Weitz,” which is the name of Clemson’s kicker who skimmed the crossbar to make a late 52 yarder, but that makes it no less hilarious.

Missouri beat a depleted Ohio State team 14-3 in one of the more boring football games you will ever watch. Michigan fans are inhaling some hopium from that one that the Big Ten defenses really are just that much better. Ohio State’s defense held Mizzou about a yard per play lower than Georgia’s defense did. That win was the first of the bowl season for the SEC against two losses: the aforementioned Kentucky one and coachless Texas A&M’s loss to Oklahoma State.

As usual, SEC teams are well represented in the major bowls, and today is a fine day for fans in the Deep South. Ole Miss and Georgia will compete in big boy bowls, sandwiched around 6-loss Auburn’s riveting Music City matchup with a Maryland squad that will be missing starting QB Taulia Tagovailoa, who opted out.

Your schedule is listed below. Only two more days until the Rose Bowl, folks.
