Jumbo Package: Nick Saban steals the show at SEC Media Days

SEC Media Days just isn’t the same... But it is nice seeing Saban on Monday and Tuesday now.

NCAA Football: Rose Bowl Media Day Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

First, Nick Saban is now part of the media at the SEC Media Days, and he got plenty of air time yesterday.

Nick talks about the 12-team playoff, Texas and Oklahoma joining the league, how much time he’s spent with Coach DeBoer and Kane Wommack,

We also get some trash talking between Nick and Paul Finebaum, plus his thoughts on UGA, Texas, and the state of the competition for the top of the SEC. He talks some about the changing of the playoffs allows for teams to experience a loss or even two in the regular season now.

In another clip, Saban also predicted that Georgia and Texas would be the teams playing for the SEC Championship, and gave this as his comments on it:

“That depth at quarterback is probably really important for them because Ewers has missed time the last couple years, a game or two, which could really affect where you end up. So I really like Texas. I think Georgia’s got a really good team, but I believe in our Alabama team, too – I believe in Jalen Milroe. I just think the question marks in the secondary, until those get resolved, it’s hard to sort of jump on that bandwagon.”

Is he intentionally giving bulletin board material to his old team??? Don’t put it past him!

If you prefer an article about all of his comments instead of watching the videos, here’s a good recap from 247:

Saban talked glowingly about Jalen Milroe, Alabama’s returning starting quarterback: “I think Jalen Milroe obviously is a guy that is a fantastic athlete … when he stays in the right place emotionally and focuses on the next play — he’s a great competitor — [and] not get frustrated when things aren’t going exactly the way he wants them to, if he can just stay on that path, he has a tremendous impact on the offense.”

We also have a really cool moment from Lane Kiffin talking about how much Nick Saban and his time at Alabama meant to him:

Next, here’s a really long interview of Coach Kalen DeBoer that aired yesterday morning.

If you have the time in your day, definitely give it a listen.

Finally, EA sports released the newest College Football video game for the first time in a decade. If you’re the type to care about that, here are the player ratings for the entire team in the game:
